Vilupuram court gives 100 year imprisonment for accused

What could be taken as a rare and severe punishment, the court at the district headquarters of Villupuram sentenced 100 years of imprisonment for the electrical contractor.

In 2008, six people were electrocuted during the temple festival. The court issued the sentence that the irresponsible attitude towards the safety arrangements of the festival by the contractor had caused life loss of 6 person and rendered their family to struggle for survival. 37 others were injured in the accident.

The court has combined the years of punishment under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and cumulatively pronounced 100 years of imprisonment for the culprit.
