Two Indian nationals have been kidnapped by suspected terrorist from Gboko, a town in the Benue state of north-central Nigeria.
The duo Mangipudi Sai Srinivas from Visakhapatnam and his colleague Anish Sharma were reportedly kidnapped yesterday.
The two were said to be travelling from their residential quarters to Dangote Cement Plant at 7.20 pm, on the way they were kidnapped by armed men at a traffic signal.
Srinivas’s relative’s petitioned Visakhapatnam district collector N Yuvaraj today to take steps for their release.
“I tried to reach my husband on Wednesday but could not contact him. I called up the officials of the Plant this morning and they informed me about kidnapping,” wife of Srinivas said.
Collector N Yuvaraj informed that the Nigerian authorities had launched a search operation, and the district administration is in touch with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian embassy in Nigeria about the development.
