A recently-released survey conducted by the Registrar General of India (RGI) in 2014 reveals the fact the country is predominantly vegetarian.
The state of Punjab tops the list with 66.75% vegetarians, women prefers more to be a vegetarian with 68% than men at 65.5%. None of the south Indian states found place in the list of vegetarian states.
The newly formed southern state of Telengana is ranked first among the list of non-vegetarian states in the country with 98.7% stay with meat and fish eating. Karnataka with a marginal 21.1% vegetarian eating people comes first as the vegetarian state across South India.
The survey suggests that the non-vegetarianism is on decline from 75 per cent in 2004 to 71 per cent in 2014
