Millions of Muslims in India marked the start of the month of Ramzan on Tuesday bringing cheer and piety. Ramzan, is a month of intense prayer, dawn-to-dusk fasting and nightly feasts.
On Tuesday morning ‘sehri’ or the sustenance meal before the dawn-to-dusk fast begins was observed. Evenings are set to be an array of festive delights with family and friends and many will also send out food to the poor, in charity.
Muslims are following in the steps of the great Prophet Mohammad who was nearly 1400 years ago, handed the Quran by the Divine on this day and month.
