We all are aware and would also have tasted wine made from fruits such as apple, cherries and grapes. But time has arrived to sip a glass of wine made from king of fruits, the mango.
A student from India’s prime university, Abhishek Dutt Tripathi had prepared a drink same as wine with mangoes in association with his fellow students. All students were pursuing their education from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The wine production from mangoes undergoes a process for 15 long days. The product is expected to be available in the markets in the next six months. The student team claim the drink consists of mineral and vitamins required for the good health, same as the “Health Tonic”.
Mango is considered to be a prized possession of India, there are around 25 different mango varieties available to taste and cherish. The fruit receives wide appreciation for its sweet and delicious taste, it is also exported in larger quantities to foreign countries.
Known for its nutritive value, the fruit occupies special place in Indian households, due to its affordable prices.Mangoes are also having its own medicinal properties; the fruit contains α-carotene, an anticancer agent.
A bumper crop of mangoes during its peak season often results in a huge loss of revenue to farmers due to the price crash, the surplus produce could be better utilized to make wine and turn it into a value added product.
