Burkinis are back on the beach as ban is lifted by Court

France’s highest administrative court had pronounced its judgment on the burkini ban. The court has strictly termed the ban as against individual freedom and violation of rights.

The revoking of the ban on the often termed as Islamic swimsuit, which has prompted ferocious discussion in France and spotlighted as crucial headlines across the globe, was hailed by the United Nations, ¬†and a France based Muslim group welcomed the judgment and called it a “victory for common sense”.

Announcing its decision, the court directed the local officials to take necessary steps to restrict the individual freedom only if donning the swimsuit on sea shores creates a “proven risk” to public safety.

Law enforcing agencies fined Muslim females for donning the special swimsuit on French beaches. The action was severely criticized as an action against France guarded women rights and secularism.
