A young woman aged 22 said to be behind the burning of a fleet of Omni buses belongs to the renowned KPN travels was arrested along with other 11 persons.
The burning incident took place on 12th September at the outskirts of Bangalore, the mob was protesting against the Supreme Court order of releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The Omni bus operator belongs to Salem, Tamil Nadu.
It was shocking to notify that the daily wage laborer had carried out the arson just for Rs.100 and a plate of mutton biryani. The woman was identified as C. Bhagya.
Yellamma, the mother of Bhagya revealed to media that her daughter asked to join the protests by ‘friends’ and promised to be provided a sum of Rs.100 and feast of biryani after the protests.
Sources from the Police departments said that the footage indicates presence of other women too; it is not yet established the role of her in the arson and rioting.
Bhagya is said to be only female among the 400 suspects arrested for violence related to Cauvery protests on 12th September. She is presently under the police custody and being questioned further over the incident.
A department official said it was yet to establish that Bhagya played the role of leading the arsonists. “For the time, we are considering her to be one among the mob,” the officer added.
